                I hereby certify that the bearer hereof negro
       Nathaniel who calls himself Nathaniel Ford a Mulatto
       Man about thirty nine years of age five feet six Inches
       high has a scar on the thumb of the right hand occasioned
       by a Cut & a scar on the Instep of the left foot which seems
       to have been occasioned by a burn  That the said Nathaniel
       Ford is a free man & was set free by Alexander H
       Boteler of the County aforesaid by manumission duly
       acknowledged & Recorded in my office this day
       Identified by            In Testimony &.c   Cert dated 20.th Jan.y 1837

       bright Mulatto woman aged nineteen years five
       feet four Inches high having a scar ^the fifth finger of her right ^hand^ being crooked finger
       That the said Sophia is a free woman and became
       Entitled to her freedom by virtue of a Deed of Manumission
       from George Calvert bearing date the thirtieth of
       October Eighteen hundred and twenty two and duly
       recorded in Liber A B N.o 2 one of the Land Records
