                I hereby certify that the bearer
       hereof negro Jeffry who calls himself
       Jeffrey Williams about thirty one years of
       age about five feet nine & three quarter
       inches high of a dark complexion has two
       scars ^on^ his neck just below his right year
       occasioned by a burn also a scar on his four
       finger occasioned by the same thing is a free man
       and became entitled to his freedom by virtue
       of a Deed of Manumission from John William
       & wife to sundry negroes bearing date the 3.d
       of May seventeen hundred and ninety two including
       the said Jeffrey and that he is the
       identical person therein named
