       Maryland Prince Georges County to wit

             I hereby certify that the bearer hereof negro
             Rosetta who calls herself Rosetta Cooper
       a bright mulatto girl about sixteen years of age
       about five feet four inches high having a
       natural mark of the left side of her chin
       (in shape & size resembling a plum) is a free girl
       being the reputed child of Nelly Cooper a
       free woman of Colour

                         certificate given 27.th aug.t 1823


       Maryland Prince Georges County to wit

             I hereby certify that the bearer hereof negro John
       commonally called John Oden a bright mulatto
       man about thirty three years old about five feet seven
       inches high having a scar on his right rist & a scar
       on the left side of his forehead also his name & several
       ^other^ letters on his left arm is a free man & became entitled
       to his freedom by virtue of a deed of manumission from
       Basil Hatton to himself & sister bearing date the 9.th
                day of April Eighteen hundred & seventeen including
       the said John Oden and that he is the identical
       person therein named            I testimony &co
       certificate granted the 2.d Sept.r 1823            Aq Beall Clk
