       Maryland &c

                         I hereby Certify that the Bearer hereof
       a negro man who calls himself Patrick Balter
       being about the age of twenty seven about five feet
       seven Inches high is a free man being the reputed
       Son of Henry Balter a free woman of Colour

                         Certificate grantd Oct 4.th 1823 upon
                            the certificate of Henry Dodson


       Maryland Prince Georges County to wit

                   I hereby certify that the bearer hereof
       negro Cate forty years old about five feet four
       inches high of a dark complexion has a scar on the
       left side of her neck occasioned by the Kings
       Evel is a free woman and became entitled
       to her freedom by a bill of sale from Verlinda
       Wilcoxen & Mary Ann Boteler to Marlborough
       Camel ^her brother^ bearing date the sixteenth day of June
       Eighteen hundred and twenty three being the
       reputed child of Elender Cambel a free woman

          Ct.d granted 24.th Oct.r 1833
