       Maryland Prince Georges County to wit
   
             I hereby certify that the bearer hereof
             negro William who calls himself
             William Cooper of a light complexion
             having the third finger of the left hand
             bent (it having been broken) about twenty
             four years of age about five feet seven
             inches high is a free man being the reputed
             son of Nelly Cooper a free woman of
             colour

       certificate given
       27.th 1823

                I hereby certify that the bearer hereof negro
       Matilda who calls herself Matilda Cooper of a
       dark complexion having a small scar on the back
       of her left hand about twenty one years of age about
       five feet six inches high is a free woman being
       the reputed Child of Nelly Cooper a free woman
       of colour
