In item (1) of this subsection, the term "any unit of
the State government" is substituted for the former
phrase "the State and its departments, institutions
and other agencies", for brevity and clarity, and to
conform to similar provisions elsewhere in this title.

The only other changes are in style.

Defined term: "Department" § 4-101

(B)  ASSISTANCE AND ADVICE TO OTHER UNITS OF STATE
GOVERNMENT.

THE DEPARTMENT SHALL ASSIST AND ADVISE ANY UNIT OF THE STATE
GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS:

(1)  IN THE REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF ANY CHANGE TO A
CONTRACT, PLAN, OR SPECIFICATION FOR A PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT; AND

(2)  ON ANY ENGINEERING MATTER, SURVEY, PLAN,
SPECIFICATION, OR CONTRACT FOR A PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT OR LAND
ACQUISITION THAT:

(I)  MAY COME BEFORE THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS;
OR

(II)  MAY BE OF INTEREST TO THE UNIT OF THE
STATE GOVERNMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as Art.
78A, § 22(1) and (8).

In the introductory language of this subsection, the
phrase "any unit of the State government, including
the Board of Public Works" is substituted for the
former phrase "the Board of Public Works and other
State departments and agencies", to conform to similar
provisions elsewhere in this title.

Similarly, in item (2)(ii) of this subsection, the
phrase "unit of the State government" is substituted
for the former reference to "such department or
agency".

The only other changes are in style.
