THIS SUBTITLE DOES NOT APPLY TO THE PURCHASE, LEASE, OR
RENTAL OF MOTOR VEHICLES BY THE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF THE
UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND FOR USE IN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OVERSEAS
PROGRAMS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Art. 15A,
§ 23A(c).

The former reference to "rules and regulations
promulgated under this" subtitle is deleted as
included in the reference to this subtitle.

The only other changes are in style.

3-502. PURCHASE, LEASE, OR RENTAL.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

CONSISTENT WITH DIVISION II OF THIS ARTICLE, THE SECRETARY
SHALL APPROVE AND SUBMIT TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR
CONCURRENCE ALL PURCHASES, LEASES, OR RENTALS OF MOTOR VEHICLES
FOR USE BY OFFICIALS OR EMPLOYEES OF ANY UNIT OF THE EXECUTIVE
BRANCH OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT.

(B)  BASIS.

AS FAR AS PRACTICABLE AND FEASIBLE, THE ACQUISITION OF MOTOR
VEHICLES SHALL BE BASED ON THE LOWEST POSSIBLE INITIAL COST AND
COST OF MAINTENANCE.

(C) PURCHASE.
