AN ACT concerning

Motor Vehicle Administration - Listings of Information

FOR the purpose of prohibiting the Motor Vehicle Administration
from furnishing certain information to a person who requests
the information for the purpose of preparing a commercial
mailing list certain purposes under certain circumstances.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Transportation

12-112.

(a) (1) Unless the information is classified as
confidential under § 12-111 of this subtitle or otherwise as
provided by law, AND SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SUBSECTION (D)
OF THIS SECTION, the Administration may furnish listings of
vehicle registration and other public information in its records
to those persons who request them, but only if the Administration
approves of the purpose for which the information is requested.

(2) IF A PERSON REQUESTS IN WRITING THAT THE

ADMINISTRATION NOT FURNISH INFORMATION ON A VEHICLE REGISTERED BY

THE PERSON OR OTHER INFORMATION IN THE RECORDS OF THE

ADMINISTRATION THAT RELATES TO THE PERSON, THE ADMINISTRATION MAY
NOT FURNISH THE INFORMATION AS PART OF A LISTING OF VEHICLE
REGISTRATIONS OR OTHER PUBLIC INFORMATION TO ANOTHER PERSON WHO

REQUESTS THE INFORMATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PREPARING A

COMMERCIAL MAILING LIST.

(D) (1) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN PARAGRAPH (2), UPON WRITTEN
REQUEST BY AN INDIVIDUAL HOLDING A LICENSE AS DEFINED IN §
