compensation of the judges of the orphans' court for Wicomico
County in office on the effective date of this Act, but the
provisions of this Act concerning the salaries or compensation of
the judges of the orphans' court for Wicomico County shall take
effect at the beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

Anne Arundel County - Sheriff - Salary

FOR the purpose of increasing the salary of the Anne Arundel
County Sheriff; and providing that this Act does not affect
the incumbent.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

(c) (1) The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall receive a
salary of [$29,500] $35,000 $37,500.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, § 35, of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may
not be construed to extend or apply to the salary or compensation
of the Anne Arundel County Sheriff in office on the effective
date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the
salary or compensation of the Anne Arundel County Sheriff shall
take effect at the beginning of the next following term of
office.
