requesting the land, lots, blocks, roads and streets described in
the Petition be added to and made a part of the City of
Cumberland; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland has
verified the signatures thereon and has ascertained that the
persons signing said Petition represent at least twenty-five (25)
percentum of the persons who reside in said area to be annexed,
and who are registered as voters in County Elections in the
precinct in which the territory to be annexed is located, and the
owners of one hundred percentum (100%) of the assessed valuation
of the real property located in said area to be annexed; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland, pursuant
to receipt of the Petition requesting annexation, is introducing
this Resolution, providing that the present Corporate Boundaries
of the City of Cumberland be extended to include the area
described in the Petition; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland will cause
a notice of the proposed enlargement of the Corporate Boundaries
of the City of Cumberland to be published not less than four (4)
times, at weekly intervals, in the Cumberland Evening Times, a
newspaper of general circulation in the City of Cumberland,
Maryland, and the area to be annexed, said notice describing the
proposed enlargement and circumstances thereto and specifying the
time, date and place at which a Public Hearing will be held on
the proposed annexation. Said Public Hearing is to be held on the
26th day of July, 1983, at 7:30 o'clock p.m., in the City Hall,
Cumberland, Maryland, said date being more than fifteen days
after the fourth publication of the notice in the aforementioned
newspaper.
