[(a) The chairman of the County Board is entitled to
receive $7,000 annually as compensation and the other elected
members are entitled to receive $6,500 each annually as
compensation.]
(A)(1) BY JANUARY 1, 1985, AND EVERY 4 YEARS THEREAFTER,
THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY SHALL APPOINT A
BOARD OF EDUCATION COMPENSATION COMMISSION.
(2) THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE SHALL DETERMINE THE
MEMBERSHIP, TERMS, COMPENSATION, AND CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP OF
THE COMPENSATION COMMISSION.
(B) THE COMPENSATION COMMMISSION SHALL:
(1) STUDY THE ANNUAL SALARIES AND COMPENSATION OF THE
CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF COUNTY BOARDS OF EDUCATION IN THIS STATE;
AND
(2) BY APRIL 1, SUBMIT ITS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE
ANNUAL SALARIES OF THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR THE FOLLOWING 4 YEARS.
(C)(1) THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE MAY REDUCE OR REJECT BUT MAY
NOT INCREASE THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE COMPENSATION COMMISSION.
(2) IF THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE DOES NOT ACT ON THE
COMPENSATION COMMISSION'S RECOMMENDATIONS BY MAY 1, THE SALARIES
RECOMMENDED BY THE COMMISSION SHALL BE THE SALARIES OF THE
CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, BEGINNING JULY 1
OF THAT YEAR, FOR THE FOLLOWING 4 YEARS.
(D) THE SALARIES OF THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MAY NOT BE LESS THAN THE
SALARIES PAID ON JULY 1, 1984.
(A) FROM AND AFTER JULY 1, 1984, AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH
MEMBER'S FULL TERM, THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNTY BOARD IS ENTITLED
TO RECEIVE $8,500 ANNUALLY AS COMPENSATION AND THE OTHER ELECTED
MEMBERS ARE EACH ENTITLED TO RECEIVE $8,000 ANNUALLY AS
COMPENSATION.
(E) (B) UNTIL THE SALARIES OF THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF
THE COUNTY BOARD ARE ESTABLISHED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
PROVISIONS OF SUBSECTIONS (A), (B), (C), AND (D) SUBSECTION (A)
OF THIS SECTION:
(1) THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNTY BOARD SHALL BE PAID AT
THE RATE OF $7,000 ANNUALLY; AND
(2) THE OTHER ELECTED MEMBERS OF THE COUNTY BOARD
SHALL BE PAID AT THE RATE OF $6,500 ANNUALLY.
