OF APPLYING THE KNOWLEDGE OF PHYSICAL, BIOLOGICAL, AND SANITARY
SCIENCES TOWARD THE HEALTH ASPECTS OF THE COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT.
THIS PRACTICE APPLIES AT LEAST THE FOLLOWING BASIC PRINCIPLES,
CONCEPTS, METHODS, AND TECHNIQUES TOWARD CONTROLLING, PRESERVING,
OR IMPROVING THE HUMAN HEALTH EFFECTS OF MAN'S ENVIRONMENT: MILK
AND FOOD SANITATION, WATER SUPPLY, WASTEWATER TREATMENT AND
DISPOSAL, VECTOR CONTROL, RECREATIONAL, HOUSING, AND
INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY, AIR QUALITY, AND SOLID WASTE
MANAGEMENT.

[This title does not limit the right of an individual to
practice a health occupation that the individual is authorized to
practice under this article.]
(A) REGISTRATION WITH THE BOARD IS REQUIRED FOR ALL
INDIVIDUALS ENTERING THE PRACTICE OF PRACTICING ENVIRONMENTAL
HEALTH AFTER JULY 1, 1984.
(B) ALL INDIVIDUALS CURRENTLY REGISTERED BY THE BOARD OF
SANITARIAN REGISTRATION WILL BE RECOGNIZED AS REGISTERED
ENVIRONMENTAL SANITARIANS AFTER JULY 1, 1984.
(1) ALL INDIVIDUALS DESIRING TO ENTER THE PRACTICE OF
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AFTER JULY 1, 1984 AND WHO MEET THE
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 5.5-302 AND
WHO HAVE NOT OBTAINED THE NECESSARY EXPERIENCE SHALL BE SUBJECT
TO FULFILLING THE EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS UNDER RULES AND
REGULATIONS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD TO INSURE PROPER SUPERVISION AND
PROTECTION OF THE PUBLIC BY INDIVIDUALS PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PUBLIC HEALTH PRIOR TO BEING REGISTERED.
(2) THE RULES AND REGULATIONS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD
SHALL STATE THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH AN INDIVIDUAL CURRENTLY
PRACTICING, BUT WHO FAILS THE EXAMINATION FOR REGISTRATION, MAY
CONTINUE TO PERFORM THE DUTIES WHILE AWAITING REEXAMINATION.
(C) NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROVISIONS OF SUBSECTION (B) OF
THIS SECTION, THE SECRETARY MAY, BY JULY 1, 1985, WAIVE THE
"REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS OF THIS TITLE FOR AN INDIVIDUAL
EMPLOYED BY THE OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS WITHIN THE
DEPARTMENT:
(1) WHILE THAT INDIVIDUAL IS PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF
THAT EMPLOYMENT; AND
