otherwise, [a sanitarian, other than a sanitarian in training,]
AN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER SANITARIAN who is certified
by the Board as a registered [sanitarian] ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PRACTITIONER SANITARIAN.

(e)   ["Sanitarian"] "ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER

SANITARIAN" means an individual who by education[,] AND
experience[, and ability] is qualified to provide, through the
application of ACADEMIC TRAINING IN physical, biological, and
sanitary sciences, [the educational, investigative, and
technical] AND THROUGH ON-THE-JOB TRAINING, THE ROUTINE
INSPECTIONS AND INVESTIGATIONAL services essential [to promote]
FOR THE PROMOTION AND MAINTENANCE OF environmental health.

(f)   ["Sanitarian in training" means, unless the context
requires otherwise, an individual, other than a registered
sanitarian, who is certified by the Board as a sanitarian in
training.] "HOURS OF APPROVED TRAINING" MEANS THE VALUE GIVEN TO
PARTICIPATION IN ORGANIZED CONTINUING EDUCATION EXPERIENCE UNDER
RESPONSIBLE SPONSORSHIP, CAPABLE DIRECTION, AND QUALIFIED
INSTRUCTION APPROVED BY THE BOARD.

(G) "PRACTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH" MEANS THE PRACTICE

OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION BY

REGISTERED ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS WITHIN THE MEANING

OF THIS SUBTITLE AND MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING AREAS OF

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES IN THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS:

(1) MILK AND FOOD SANITATION;

(2) PUBLIC AND PRIVATE WATER SUPPLIES;

(3) PUBLIC AND PRIVATE WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT;

(4) WATER RECREATIONAL FACILITIES;

(5) AIR QUALITY;

(6) SOLID WASTE;

(7) HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT;

(8) OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY;

(9) INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY;

(10) HOUSING;

(11) VECTOR CONTROL;

(12) RADIATION PROTECTION;

(13) IONIZING RADIATION;

(14) PRODUCT SAFETY;
