HARRY HUGHES, Governor                                     2823

(4)  A member of the police department, bureau or
force of any incorporated city or town, except Baltimore City,
which is a "qualifying municipality," as defined in § 37(a)(7)
and § 39 of Article 15A of this Code; or

(5)  A member of the State Aviation Administration
police force, or the Mass Transit Administration police force, or
the Maryland Port Administration police force of the Department
of Transportation or the toll facilities police force of the
Maryland Transportation Authority; or

(6)  A member of the University of Maryland or Morgan
State University police force; or

(7)  A member of a police force for a State university
or college under the direction and control of the Board of
Trustees of State Universities and Colleges; or

(8)  Appointed, or given the powers of, a special
policeman employed and compensated by the State for the
enforcement of law and the maintenance of order on property of
the State or of any of its agencies, or for the protection of
such property; a member of the [Annapolis public buildings and
grounds security force; or a member of the Baltimore public
buildings and grounds security force] DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL
SERVICES SECURITY FORCE; or

(9)  The sheriff of any county or of Baltimore City
and whose usual duties include the making of arrests; or

(10)  A regularly employed deputy sheriff of any
county and who is compensated by the county and whose usual
duties include the making of arrests; or

(11)  A member of the Natural Resources police of the
Department of Natural Resources.

(b) "Law-enforcement officer" means any person who, in his
official capacity, is authorized by law to make arrests and who
is a member of one of the following law-enforcement agencies:

(1)  The Maryland State Police;

(2)  The Baltimore City police department;

(3)  The police department, bureau, or force of any
county;

(4)  The police department, bureau, or force of any
incorporated city or town;

(5)  The office of the sheriff of any county;
