(b) The Board shall issue a certificate of registration to
each person qualified as a master barber. A master barber shall
post the certificate in a conspicuous place in the shop where he
is practicing.
(c) Any master barber who fails to renew his certificate
for a period of five consecutive years is required to pass the
master barber's practical examination prior to issuance of a
certificate.

(a) Upon payment of the license fee, any person who has
passed the journeyman's examination and who has successfully
completed not less than 1,200 hours of instruction at a licensed
barber school, shall be issued a journeyman barber's license by
the Board. However, any applicant who has previously completed
training in and is currently licensed in this State as a beauty
operator shall be given credit for 50 percent of the required
training hours. The Board shall determine the manner in which the
credits are applied.
(b) The journeyman barber's initial license shall be valid
for a period of [18] 12 15 months at which time the journeyman
barber shall take the examination for the master barber's
certificate. If the journeyman barber fails to successfully
complete the examination, the journeyman barber's license may be
renewed biennially.
(c) A journeyman barber may do barbering work in a
regularly operated barbershop under the supervision of a master
barber.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the provisions
of this Act apply only to barbers initially licensed as
journeyman barbers in the State on or after July 1, 1984.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.
