Ch. 289

12-5. Master Electrician; definition, license.

(A)   [The term] IN THIS SUBTITLE, Master Electrician[, as
used in this subtitle shall be defined as and including] MEANS
AND INCLUDES any and all persons engaged in THE business of, or
holding themselves out to the public as engaged in the business
of installing, erecting, or repairing, or contracting to install,
erect, or repair electric wires or conductors, [to be] THAT ARE
used for the transmission of electric current for electric light,
heat, or power purposes, or moldings, ducts, raceways or conduits
for the reception or protection of such wires or conductors, or
to any electrical machinery, apparatus, devices, or fixtures to
be used for electric light, heat or power purposes.

(B)  A [license of] "Master Electrician" LICENSE issued
[and] in accordance with the provisions of this subtitle [shall
entitle] ENTITLES any such person so licensed to engage in the
business of and to hold himself out to the public as engaged in
the business of installing, erecting, and repairing and of
contracting to install, erect, and repair any electric wires or
conductors, etc.

(C)   [, provided, however, that nothing in this] THIS
subtitle [shall] DOES NOT apply to any firm or corporation if the
person managing and in charge of the electrical work for [said]
THE firm or corporation is a master electrician licensed under
this subtitle. (1957 Code, sec. 212. 1951, ch. 328, sec. 179E.)

12-6. License required; examination; appeals; bond.

(a) Examination. Before any person [shall hereafter
engage] ENGAGES in the business of a Master Electrician in
Washington County[, as defined in this subtitle,] and before any
person [now] engaged in [said] THE business or any class
[thereof, shall continue] CONTINUES in [said] THE business of
Master Electrician, [such] THAT person shall apply to [said] THE
Board for a license.[, as herein required whereupon the] THE
applicant shall present himself before the [said] Board at a time
and place fixed by [said] THE Board. If the Board [shall find]
FINDS upon due examination that the applicant presenting himself
has a reasonable knowledge of electricity and the natural laws
and functions of electric wires, appliances, and devices for
electric light, heat, and power purposes and is possessed of
skill and knowledge in all matters appertaining to the business
of Master Electrician, [as defined in this subtitle, then] the
[said] Board, upon payment of the fee and upon executing the bond
[herein provided for,] shall issue to the [said] person a license
as Master Electrician to practice [said] THE business for a term
of [one] 1 year.[; and] THE BOARD shall register [such] THAT
person as A duly licensed Master Electrician.[; provided,
however, no] A person who [shall have] HAS been engaged as a bona
fide contractor in the electrical contracting business in
Washington County for a period of [three (3)] 3 years prior to
June 1, 1951, [shall be] IS NOT required to take the examination
