(C) A Commissioner [shall] MAY NOT receive [no] ANY other
compensation [whatsoever] for his services. (P.L.L., 1930, Art.

Section 2 of Ch. 78, 1982:
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act may not
be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the Washington
County County Commissioners in office on the effective date of
this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary of
the Washington County County Commissioners shall take effect at
the beginning of the next following term of office.
8-3. Clerk; oath.
(A) The [Board of] County Commissioners shall appoint a
County Clerk.
(B) Before entering upon the duties of his office the
County Clerk shall take and subscribe before the clerk of the
Circuit Court [of Washington County] the oath prescribed in
[Section 6 of] Article I, SECTION 6 of the Constitution of

8-4. Same; duties, bond.
(a) Duties; bond. (1) The County Clerk shall [keep]:
(I) KEEP careful and accurate minutes of the
proceedings of the County Commissioners[, keep];
(II) KEEP all records, papers and documents of
the county in [his] safe custody; [he shall file]
(III) FILE all accounts and claims presented
against the county, and whenever any account is approved and
passed by the County Commissioners, [he shall] make a record of
[the same] IT in a book to be kept for that purpose, to which
shall be attached an accurate index, so that the dealings of
every one with the County Commissioners may be readily
ascertained; [he shall perform such]
(IV) PERFORM other duties [as are] imposed upon
clerks of County Commissioners by any general OR LOCAL law [of
the State of Maryland or by any local law for Washington County,
and such] AND other clerical duties [as may be] required of him
by order of the County Commissioners; [he shall receive]
(V) RECEIVE all money paid to the County
Commissioners from all sources except the annual levy; [keep]
