HARRY HUGHES, Governor                                         1265

(A)   IN GENERAL.

THE PURPOSES OF THE MARYLAND VETERANS' HOME COMMISSION ARE
TO OPERATE AND TO MANAGE IN THE STATE A HOME FOR VETERANS.

(B)  LEGISLATIVE POLICY.

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY DECLARES THE PURPOSES OF THE MARYLAND
VETERANS' HOME COMMISSION TO BE OF GENERAL BENEFIT TO THE
VETERANS OF THE STATE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first sentence of
former Art. 96 1/2, § 52 and the provisions of the
first sentence of § 51A that related to operation and
management of the Home.

The provisions of the first sentence of former Art. 96
1/2, § 51A that made acquisition of a site for the
Home and establishment of the Home purposes of the
Veterans' Home Commission are deleted as obsolete,
since these purposes have been accomplished.

The second sentence of former Art. 96 1/2, § 52, which
referred to the perpetual existence of the Veterans'
Home Commission subject to modification or termination
by the General Assembly, is deleted as unnecessary
since, as with other statutory units, the Commission
would continue to exist and to carry out its functions
until a termination date, if any, and would be subject
to modification by the General Assembly.

Defined term: "Veteran" § 9-901

9-919. SCOPE OF PART.

ACTIVITY OF:

(1)  A UNIT OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT;

(3)  ANY PERSON WHO IS INTERESTED IN VETERANS IN THE

STATE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 96 1/2, §
62.

In item (3) of this section, the former reference to a
"private agency" is deleted as unnecessary in light of
the use of the defined term "person".

Defined terms: "Person" § 1-101
