LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 284

(1)  ANNAPOLIS SERVES AS THE SEAT OF THE STATE
GOVERNMENT;

(2)  EACH BRANCH OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT HAS OFFICES
IN ANNAPOLIS;

(3)  ANNAPOLIS WAS SETTLED IN THE 17TH CENTURY;

(4)  ANNAPOLIS HAS SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE
POLITICAL, SOCIAL, AND ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE OF THE STATE AND,
AS THE CAPITAL, HAS MANY STRUCTURES AND SITES OF GREAT HISTORICAL
AND ARCHITECTURAL MERIT; AND

(5)  THE STATE HAS UNDERTAKEN A BROAD RANGE OF
PROGRAMS, WHICH OFTEN INVOLVE THE EXPENDITURE OF STATE FUNDS, TO
PRESERVE AND ENHANCE ANNAPOLIS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Art. 78A,
§ 14D(a).

It is revised as findings, for clarity.

The only other changes are in style.

9-703. SCOPE OF SUBTITLE.

(A)  EFFECT ON OTHER UNITS.

THIS SUBTITLE DOES NOT LIMIT OR SUPERSEDE THE POWERS AND
RESPONSIBILITIES OF:

(1)  THE COMMISSION ON ARTISTIC PROPERTY;

(2)  THE COMMISSION ON THE CAPITAL CITY; OR

(3)  THE STATE HOUSE TRUST.

(B)  MANAGEMENT OF PROPERTY.

EXCEPT AS SPECIFICALLY PROVIDED IN § 9-709(B) OF THIS
SUBTITLE, THIS SUBTITLE DOES NOT TRANSFER THE MANAGEMENT OF ANY
INTEREST IN REAL PROPERTY THAT THE STATE OWNS IN ANNAPOLIS OR THE
IMMEDIATE AREA.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first and second
sentences of former Art. 78A, § 14D(e).

The third sentence of former Art. 78A, § 14D(e), which
stated that the Board of Public Works has the power to
transfer property under Art. 78A, § 16 of the Code, is
deleted as unnecessary, in light of the referenced
section.
