THERE IS AN OFFICE OF MINORITY AFFAIRS IN THE EXECUTIVE
DEPARTMENT.

9-303. DIRECTOR.

THE HEAD OF THE OFFICE OF MINORITY AFFAIRS IS THE DIRECTOR,
WHO SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first clause of
former Art. 41, § 483(c).

It is restated to conform to other provisions
elsewhere in this article for appointment of the
"head" of an office.

9-304. GENERAL DUTIES.

SUBJECT TO THE LIMITATIONS OF ANY LAW THAT GOVERNS THE
ACTIVITIES OF OTHER UNITS OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH OF THE STATE
GOVERNMENT, THE DIRECTOR SHALL:

(1)  ADVISE THE GOVERNOR ON:

(I)  THE ACTIVITIES OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT THAT
ARE INTENDED TO PROMOTE THE EMPLOYMENT OF MINORITY PERSONS IN THE
STATE; AND

(II)  EACH OTHER MATTER THAT AFFECTS THE RIGHTS
AND INTERESTS OF MINORITY PERSONS AND THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH
THEY LIVE; AND

(2)  AS AUTHORIZED BY THE GOVERNOR:

(I)  PROVIDE HELP TO MINORITY PERSONS AND THE
COMMUNITIES IN WHICH THEY LIVE;

(II)  REPRESENT THE GOVERNOR IN ANY MATTER THAT
RELATES TO MINORITY PERSONS OR GENERALLY TO THE PROMOTION OF
EQUALITY AMONG THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE; AND

(III)  PERFORM ANY OTHER RESPONSIBILITY THAT THE
GOVERNOR ASSIGNS.
