substitution conforms to the name of the "National
Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws", in
which the Commission represents the State, and is
based on the former reference to the Commissioners as
a "Board of Commissioners".

The word "State" is added to the title of the
Commission, to standardize the references to State
units.

The former phrase "appointed as at present" is deleted
as surplusage.

9-203. MEMBERSHIP.

(A)  COMPOSITION; APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS.

THE COMMISSION CONSISTS OF 3 MEMBERS APPOINTED BY THE
GOVERNOR.

(B)  TENURE; VACANCIES.

(1)  THE TERM OF A MEMBER IS 4 YEARS AND BEGINS ON
JUNE 1 OF THE YEAR IN WHICH THE TERM OF THE GOVERNOR BEGINS.

(2)  AT THE END OF A TERM, A MEMBER CONTINUES TO SERVE
UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED.

(3)  A MEMBER WHO IS APPOINTED AFTER A TERM HAS BEGUN
SERVES ONLY FOR THE REST OF THE TERM AND UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS
APPOINTED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsections (a) and (b)(1) and (2) of this
section are new language derived without substantive
change from the first clause of the first sentence of
former Art. 41, § 154(a) and the first sentence of
(b).

Subsection (b)(3) of this section is standard language
added for clarity.

In subsection (b)(1) of this section, the reference to
"the year in which the term of the Governor begins" is
substituted for the former phrase "[w]ithin thirty
days after June 1, 1951, and every fourth year
thereafter," for clarity.

The third sentence of former Art. 41, § 154(b), which
provided that a vacancy be filled by the Governor, is
deleted as unnecessary in light of subsection (a) of
this section.
