               James Maddox his Deposition Taken by Virtue of a Comission out of the
               high Court of Chancery Directed to M.r Amos Garrett & M.r Thomas Maj.r or
               either of them Dated y.e 17.th day of Aprill Anno Dm 1713

       John Coffer aged three and twenty years or thereabouts being sworne on the
       holy Evangelist of allmighty God deposeth that a Certain William Doynes came
       to the house of a Certain James Maddox about five years agoe last March
       (the Depon.t then living with the Said Maddocks in Charles County) and this
       Depon.t heard the said William Doynes say that he would pay the said James
       Maddox a Cow and desired him to fetch her & as this Depon.t and the said Maddox
       were going with the Said William Doynes for the Said Cow they agreed about
       the Price of a Certain Negroe man named Robin Conter and in Consideration
       thereof the said Maddox discounted the Said Cow and five hundred pounds of
       Tobacco and delivered a Black paleing horse to the said William Doynes and
       promised to pay Tenn pounds in money (but whether sterl or Current this Depon.t
       knows not) and thereupon the said William Delivered at that time the afores.d
       Negroe unto the Said James Maddox and further this Depon.t saith not

       such Evidences as should then and there be produced to us for proving the bounds
       of a Certain Tract of land called Old Towne lying and being in Queen Anns
       County near the head of Choptank River &c.a      In obedience to her Maj.tys
