699) Arnold Elsey's Depo.n for a Tract of Land called Almodington in Sommersett County Sommersett County fs The Dep.o of M.r Livin Denwood aged sixty four years or thereab.ts taken ^be^fore us George Gale and John West two of her Majestys Justices of Peace for the County afd y.e 29.th day 9.br In the Ninth year of the Reigne of one Sovereigne Lady Anne of Great Brittain France and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith &c.a Anno Dm 1710 This Examinate being one of the people called Quakers having taken a Solomn Afirmation according to Act of Parliament to declare the truth Saith that about forty years agoe he was at a Resurvey of Land for one Charles Ballard the then Survey.rs were George John and Phillip Shapley Who begun their Course for a Devisionall Line betwixt him the said Charles Ballard and one Richard Whitty on a Marsh at or about fifteen paces to the Eastward of the mouth of a Small Gutt running out of the Creek called Goose Creek near said Whittys old Landing and from thence night fifty paces ab.t Northwest to a white oake which they then did Mark standing in the Edge of the high Land Close by the Marsh Side the said White oak being now fallen but the Said Denwood shewed us the Supscribers the place (as he beleives Where the white oak or markt Tree grew And furthe saith not The Examination ^Deposition^ of M.r John Bozman Aged Sixty one years or thereabouts taken before us George Gale and John West to of her Majestys Justices of Peace for the County afd the 9.th day of 9.br in y.e 9.th year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lady Anne Queen of Great Britt.a &c Annoq Dm 1710 this Examinate being duly sworne upon the holy Evangelist saith that the White oake above mentioned by M.r Livin Denwood was allways ^the^ Reputed bounds of the Land Between the afd Charles Ballard and Richard Whitty & Further Saith that there was a Ceader post sett downe at the Creek side the place where the Said Denwood Said the Survey.rs begunn their Course & further Saith not The Examination of M.r Peter Elzey Aged Seventy one years or thereabouts taken before George Gale and John West two of her Majestys Justices of Peace for the County afd the 29.th day of November in the Ninth year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lady Anne Queen of Great Brittain &c.a Anno Dm 1710 This Examinate |
