654) Marylands.t Dorchester Co.ty Nov.r 16 1709 By Virtue of a Comission obtained by the honoble Thomas Ennalls Esq.r out of the high Court of Chancery to us the subscribed directed bearing date the second of September Anno Domini 1709 wee doe in humble manner certifie y.t the day and yeare afores.d personally appearing before us Henry Hooper of the said County of Dorchester Gent Aged about sixty three yeares or thereabouts who being by us on the wholly Evangelist Sworne upon his Oath doth say y.t some time in September in the yeare of our Lord God One Thousand six hundred sixty Nine goeing up Transquaking River in Comp.a with one Thomas Hooton and others with intent to discover Land to survey and takeing y.t on a point near the Mouth of ^the^ said River about a Mile above a Landing called Piney Landing he the said Dep.t did see a White Oake bounding with about Sixteene Notches and this Dep.t then Enquireing what Markt Tree that should be The said Hooton Answered this Dep.t and sayd it was Robert Harwoods first bounded Tree of his Land called Cole Spring for that he had been up their before And knew it And this Dep.t further saith that he and his Company went to a spring w.ch is a little higher up the River and filled water and that the said Hooton told them y.t Harwoods Land took its name from that Spring and further saith not Sworne before Us the Subscribed as wittness our hands & seales y.e Day and Yeare first above written Jn.o Rider + Hu Eccleston + Maryland fs.t Dorchester Co.ty Nov.r 16 1709 This deposition following is not to be taken notice of it being recorded above By Virtue of a Comission obtained by the honoble Thomas Ennalls Esq.r out of the high Court of Chancery to us the Subscribed directed bearing date the second day of September Anno Domini One Thousand Seaven hundred and Nine wee doe in humble manner certifie y.t the day and Yeare afores.d personally appeared before us Henry Hooper of the said County of Dorchester Gent Aged about sixty three yeares or thereabouts who being by us upon the holy Evangelist Sworne upon his Oath doth say y.t some time in September in the Yeare of our Lord One Thousand six hundred Ninety ^sixty^ and Nine goeing up Transquaking River in Company with one Thomas Hooton and others with intent to discover Land to survey and take up that upon a pouch near the Month of the said River about a Mile above a Landing called Piney landing he |
