                            The Deposition of Mary Vanswearingen widow aged about
                            Forty eight yeares taken before Wornell Hunt and Thomas
                            Bordley Com.rs thereunto Appointed

       Who being duly Examined and Sworne on the holy Evangelist of Almighty
       God saith that some time in the year of our Lord One Thousand Six hundred
       and Ninety Five being at the Towne of Annapolis was acquainted with a
       Certaine Elizabeth Proctor who then lived there  And haveing some discourse
       with her concerning a Lott of Land in the said Towne understood by her that
       she had taken up the said Lott according to Law whereon now stands the
       large dwelling house of which Margrett Freeman together with her husband
       John Freeman since deceased built and this Depot further saith that
       she then agreed with the sd Elizabeth for the Moyety of the said Lott  But
       makeing noe deeds of Conveyance the said Elizabeth soone after sold
       the same to the said Margrett who afterwards as this Depot was informed
       together with the said Margrett tooke up the same in theire pper names

       Queen Defender of the Faith &c.a  To Wornell Huntt Esq and Thomas
       Bordley Gent Greeting  Wee have Nominated and appointed you our
       Comissioners to Examin Evidences Concerning a Lott of Land taken
       up by M.rs Margarett Freeman and others Number forty Lying in
       the City of Annapolis  Wee therefore require you that at such
       times and places as to you shall seem meet you call and cause to
       Come before you all such Wittness's as shall be to you Nominated & produced
       by the Said Margarett Freeman and that you Examin them and every of
       them on their Corporall Oaths to be by you Administred on the holy
       Evangelist touching their knowledge and Remembrance in the premises
       and that you send the Substance of their Severall and Respective Depo.s
       in writing Closed under your hands and Seales togeather with this our
       Comission Directed to the Register of our high Court of Chancery with
       all Convenient Speed  Wittness our Self at the City of Annapolis the 12.th
       day of Feb.ry in the 7.th year of our Reigne &c.a Annoq Dni 1708/9
