             Depositions for Cha Pye gent for y.e bounds of Mattawoman

       By Virtue of a Comission out of her Maj.ties high Court of Chancery bearing
       date y.e 17.th day of July last Comanding M.r W.m Hutchinson & Robert
       Middleton to have y.e Depositions of such Evidences as M.r Charles Pye
       should call before Us concerning y.e bounds & bound Trees of a certain tract
       of Five thousand Acres of Land called Mattawoman Neck no obedience thereunto
       We have Examined Matthew Sanders aged about sixty years who having
       taken his Corporall oath on y.e holy Evangelist did declare y.t about thirty
       three years ago he was informed y.t one M.r Hollingsworth then owner of y.e said
       Neck resurveyd y.e same & y.t one W.m Boyden told this Depo.t y.t he was presented
       y.e Resurvey & y.t they begun at a branch called The deep branch next to
       Pamunkey Town against an Island in Potomack River know to them by the
       Name of Numps Island & y.t Boyden told this Dep.t y.t M.r Thomas Allison she was y.e
       same branch to M.r Hollingsworth for his begining  And y.e s.d Dep.t being asked how he
       knew y.e s.d branch to be y.e place Boyden meant of did declare y.t Boyden &
       he had been severall times at it before y.e s.d Resurvey & knew by y.e Name of y.e deep
       branch but never since to y.e best of his Memory

       And I Robert Middleton do^th^ declare y.t he hath heard M.r Allison say y.t y.e
       aforesaid Neck begun at a Tree opposite to y.e Island which is all y.e Evidence
       y.t appeared to Us concerning either y.e bounds or y.e bound Trees of y.e said
       Neck of Land We being then present at y.e supposed places above
       mentioned for y.e begining of y.e Land  Given under our hand
       & seals this twenty sixth day of July Anno Dom 1706
