Ashen Swamp near an Indian Field w.ch Swamp is the fourth Swamp above a high Pointe of Land in
the said Rozers Land now known to Us by the Name of the Hollowing Pointe where M.r George Thompson
caused me to sitt down by the Root of the s.d White Oake and Write what he declare us to the Tree saying
that he was old and could not expect to live long  But that I might live to see it in Controversy Whereupon
he took off his hatt and did declare in y.e p.rsence of God Allmighty and as he hoped to enter into the
Kingdom of Heaven  That he did Really in his Conscience believe that Tree above Expressed to be
the first bound Tree and begining of the af.d Two Tracts of Land adding that if it was not the very Tree
he was positive that it did stand within Twenty or Twenty five paces of that Tree Neither to the Northward East
nor Southward but if any way nearer the River all w.ch he did most solemnly affirm with many a
protestation charging me to take such Notice that I might be able to Testify that I heard him Declare
it when I might be called thereto (when he was Dead) There being no other Man living but himself
that was at the bounding of y.e s.d Tree as he then said and farther your Deponant Saith not

of the afores.d Tract of Land  Who after having his oath duely administred by the Com.rs appointed did lay
his hand on the bounded white take above Exp.rssed and did there Declare upon Oath that he did Really in
his Conscience believe that to be the very Tree and being allso asked by Coll.o Addison whether they
Crossed any swamp in Runing the first Course did answer that they Ran a streight East North East Course
neither travissing nor crossing any swamp but Run on firm dry Ground a little ascending to the second
Tree being a White Oake and carrying us up the River ab.t a hundred Yards to the Northward to
another Tree that is marked on four sides w.ch had been shewn him by M.r Rozer and William
Clarkson and did then positively declare as he was upon his oath that that was none of the Tree but
the white oake that stands by the swamp side was the Tree he caused to be bounded for the beginning
Tree of the said Land Called Admireathorea he being Confirmed thereto by the knowledge he had
by the adjacent sand and swamp so that if that was not the very Tree he was positive it did
