Appeals, to amend the Charter of Anne Arundel County, Maryland,
by repealing and reenacting with amendments, Article VI, "County
Board of Appeals", Section 601(a), "County Board of Appeals,
Appointment, Etc.", and Section 602, "Powers and Functions of
County Board of Appeals"; to expressly provide that the County
Board of Appeals is independent of both the Legislative and
Executive Branches of County government AND PROVIDING FOR THE
BUDGET OF THE BOARD; to change the minimum salary that may be
paid to the Board of Appeals to the amount that currently is
being paid; to remove certain obsolete language and to make other
corrective and stylistic changes; to adopt generally the
proposals of the Anne Arundel County Charter Revision Commission
concerning the County Board of Appeals; and to submit these
amendments to the qualified voters of Anne Arundel County,
Maryland for their adoption or rejection.

AN ORDINANCE pursuant to proposals of the Anne Arundel
County Charter Revision Commission concerning the County
Executive and the Executive Branch of the County government, to
amend the Charter of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, by repealing
and reenacting, with amendments, Article IV, "The County
Executive", Section 401, "Nature and Term of Office, Etc."; by
repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article V, "The
Executive Branch", Section 505, "Director of Administration,
Etc.", Section 526, "Powers and Duties of the County Solicitor",
Section 534, "Organization of Office", and Section 541,
"Functions and Duties of the Department"; by repealing and
reenacting, with amendments, Article VIII, "Merit System",
Section 802, "Exempt Positions", to alter the compensation
provisions for the County Executive and Director of
Administration; to assign additional duties to the County
Solicitor; to authorize the appointment of a Deputy Zoning
Hearing Officer AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE DUTIES OF THAT OFFICE AND
ITS STATUS WITHIN THE EXEMPT SERVICE; to restate and clarify
certain duties and responsibilities of the Department of
Inspections and Permits and to remove language that limits
certain of these functions exclusively to that department; to
alter certain requirements for positions in the Exempt Service
and to add certain executive and legislative branch positions to
that service; to make technical and stylistic changes; to adopt
generally the proposals of the Anne Arundel County Charter
Revision Commission concerning the executive branch of
government; and to submit these amendments to the qualified
voters of Anne Arundel County, Maryland for their adoption or
rejection.
