2300                                               JOINT RESOLUTIONS RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the Board
of County Commissioners of Cecil County is urged, to study the
possibility of the creation of a "Volunteer Length of Service
Award Program" for members of the Volunteer Fire, Rescue, and
Ambulance Services in Cecil County; and be it further RESOLVED, That the General Assembly of Maryland requests
that a copy of the findings and recommendations on the subject be
sent to the members of the Cecil County delegation to the General
Assembly; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the
County Commissioners of Cecil County, 101 County Office Building,
Elkton, Maryland 21921, and to Mr. Larry Storke, Cecil County
Firemen's Association, 302 Hollingsworth Street, Elkton, Maryland
21921. Signed May 10, 1983. No. 26 (House Joint Resolution No. 52) A House Joint Resolution concerning Chesapeake Bay - Maryland's Seafood Industry - Finfish FOR the purpose of requesting the Joint Committee on
Administrative, Executive and Legislative Review and the
Secretary of Natural Resources to study and monitor certain
laws, rules, and regulations of this State concerning the
tidal finfish fisheries of the Chesapeake Bay; and setting
forth a policy by the General Assembly of Maryland regarding
the restoration, protection, and enhancement of finfish in
the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. WHEREAS, The Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, which
comprise one-fifth of Maryland, are one of the most productive
estuaries in the nation and contribute materially to the
well-being of all Maryland citizens; and WHEREAS, A survey of Maryland's citizens conducted by the
University of Maryland in 1980 ranked the Maryland seafood
industry as the most important use of the Chesapeake Bay; and WHEREAS, The Maryland seafood industry, with its genesis in
the watermen of the Chesapeake Bay, gives rise to the image of a
"Land of Pleasant Living"; and WHEREAS, The image of the "Land of Pleasant Living" is used
to attract tourists and commerce; and
