216 LAWS OF MARYLAND
CHAPTER 58 (House Bill 1016) AN ACT concerning Somerset County - Fire Department Appropriations FOR the purpose of altering the sum of money the County
Commissioners of Somerset County are authorized to
appropriate and levy for the use of volunteer fire companies
in Somerset County; providing that a certain amount shall be
allocated to the treasurer of the Mount Vernon Volunteer
Fire Company; and generally relating to the levy and
appropriation of sums by the County Commissioners of
Somerset County for the use of volunteer fire companies in
Somerset County.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, The Public Local Laws of Somerset County
Section 17 Article 20 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1977 Edition, as amended)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article 20 - Somerset County 17. (a)  The County Commissioners of Somerset County are hereby
authorized, empowered and required to appropriate and levy
annually the sum of [$97,300] $109,200 for the use of the
organized volunteer fire companies of said Somerset County. The
said sum shall be divided into [five] 6 parts and paid annually
to the treasurers of the following companies in the manner
following: That is to say, to the treasurer of the Crisfield
Volunteer Fire Company, $27,000; to the treasurer of the Princess
Anne Volunteer Fire Company, $27,000; to the treasurer of the
Marion Volunteer Fire Company, $15,700; to the treasurer of the
Deals Island-Chance Volunteer Fire Company, $14,700; to the
treasurer of the Ewell Fire Department, Inc., of Smith's Island,
$11,900, AND TO THE TREASURER OF THE MOUNT VERNON VOLUNTEER FIRE
COMPANY, INC., $11,900. (b)  From the moneys appropriated for each of the fire
companies in subsection (a) of this section, $5,000 shall be
placed into a capital account by the respective fire companies,
and shall only be used for capital expenditures. The money so
appropriated and paid to the aforesaid fire companies shall be
