1446 LAWS OF MARYLAND
altered as provided in this Act, the inhabitants of the area
described in Section 1 of this Act formerly located in Baltimore
City cease to have any claim to or interest in any county
property belonging to Baltimore City.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, if the city and
county boundary is altered under this Act: (1)  The boundary alteration does not in any way affect the
validity, meaning, effect, or other legal consequence of any
conveyance, will, mortgage, contract, or other document executed
before the alteration. (2)  Any building formerly located in Baltimore City that .
complies with the building code and the other laws and
regulations of Baltimore City before the boundary alteration is
not deemed to be in violation, after the boundary alteration, of
the code, laws, or regulations of Baltimore County. However, the
building is subject to all codes, laws, and regulations adopted
after the boundary alteration by Baltimore County. (3)  All zoning classifications in the area formerly located
in Baltimore City shall remain in effect until changed by the
appropriate Baltimore County governmental authority. (4)   If a crime has been committed in the area formerly
located in Baltimore City before the boundary alteration, persons
suspected of the crime may be arrested by either the city or the
county police. Persons arrested for crimes that were committed
in the area formerly located in Baltimore City before the
boundary alteration shall be tried according to the law and
procedure of Baltimore City and in the courts of Baltimore City.
The jurisdiction and venue of such courts to conduct trials,
render verdicts and judgments, and pass sentences is hereby
confirmed. (5)  Every civil lawsuit arising out of a transaction that
took place in the area formerly located in Baltimore City before
the boundary alteration shall be decided according to the laws,
regulations, and procedures of Baltimore City. Jurisdiction and
venue shall remain in the courts of Baltimore City. (6)   If any property is in the area formerly located in
Baltimore City that belongs to Baltimore City, Baltimore City may
remove the property before the effective date of the boundary
alteration. Whatever property is not removed shall become the
property of Baltimore County. Real property shall become the
property of Baltimore County. (7)  Taxes on real property for the year in which the
boundary alteration occurs shall be collected by Baltimore City.
It shall retain a sum sufficient to compensate it for the expense
of collection and shall pay over one-half of the remainder to
Baltimore County. If Baltimore City and Baltimore County
