SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
10-401.
As used in this subtitle, the following terms have the
meanings indicated:
(6) "Investigative or law enforcement officer" means
any officer of this State or a political subdivision thereof, OR
THE UNITED STATES, unless otherwise specified, who is empowered
by law to conduct investigations of or to make arrests for
offenses enumerated in this subtitle, and any attorney authorized
by law to prosecute or participate in the prosecution of such
offenses;
10-407.
(F) ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF THE UNITED STATES, WHO
HAS LAWFULLY RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION CONCERNING A WIRE OR ORAL
COMMUNICATION OR EVIDENCE LAWFULLY DERIVED THEREFROM, WHICH WOULD
HAVE BEEN LAWFUL FOR A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF THIS STATE
PURSUANT TO § 10-402(C)(2) OF THIS SUBTITLE TO RECEIVE, MAY
DISCLOSE THE CONTENTS OF THAT COMMUNICATION OR THE DERIVATIVE
EVIDENCE WHILE GIVING TESTIMONY UNDER OATH OR AFFIRMATION IN ANY
PROCEEDING HELD UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THIS STATE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1983.

FOR the purpose of increasing the maximum penalties the penalty
