Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 608.
This bill amends Chapter 910 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1978 to alter the amount of the State debt for
Elderly Citizens Activities Centers Improvement Loan of
1979.
House Bill 1236, which was passed by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 4, 1982, accomplishes the
same purpose. Therefore it is not necessary for me to sign
Senate Bill 608.

AN ACT concerning
Alteration of a State Debt - Elderly Citizens Activities
Centers Improvement Loan of 1979
FOR the purpose of amending Chapter 910 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1978 to alter the amount of the
State debt therein authorized.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Chapter 910 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland of 1978, as amended by Chapter 466 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of 1979; Chapter
270 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1980,
and Chapter 513 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1981 Section 1 (1)
The President put the question: Shall the Bill pass,
notwithstanding the objections of the Executive
The roll call vote resulted as follows:
Affirmative: 0 Negative: 46

The President announced the veto was sustained.
