Ch. 21

In subsection (b)(1) of this section, the
reference to submitting the proof "with the
application for registration or license" is
substituted for the reference to submission
"{o}n or before July 1, 1975 and on or before
July 1 of each year thereafter" to "the county
agency with which the dog is required to be
registered or licensed", for clarity. Under
Article 56, § 191 of the Code, these applications
must be made on or before July 1 of each year.

18-319. SAME -- DOGS AND CATS.

(A)  RESPONSIBILITIES OF VETERINARIANS.

A LICENSED VETERINARIAN WHO VACCINATES A DOG OR CAT
AGAINST RABIES:

(1) MAY SELECT THE VACCINE TO BE USED;

(2) SHALL ADMINISTER THE VACCINE IN A MANNER
THAT IS CONSISTENT WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE FEDERAL
AGENCY THAT LICENSES THE VACCINE;

(3)   SHALL ISSUE TO THE OWNER OF THE DOG OR CAT A
VACCINATION CERTIFICATE, ON THE FORM THAT THE DEPARTMENT
PROVIDES WITHOUT CHARGE; AND

(4)  SHALL KEEP A RECORD OF THE VACCINATION.

(B)  USE OF RECORDS RESTRICTED.

THE INFORMATION IN THE RABIES VACCINATION RECORD THAT A
LICENSED VETERINARIAN KEEPS MAY NOT BE USED:

(1)  TO LICENSE THE DOG OR CAT; OR

(2)  TO TAX THE OWNER OF THE DOG OR CAT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsections (a)(1), (2), and (3) and
(b) of this section are new language derived
without substantive change from former Article
43, § 616(b).

Subsection (a)(4) of this section is new language
added to state expressly that which only was
implied in former Article 43, § 616(b). This
addition conforms to Department practice.
