change from the second sentence of former Article
41, § 340(b) and the second sentence of (c).
Subsection (c)(2) of this section is new language
added to reflect the continuing stagger created
under the first sentence of former Article 41, §
340(b), which specified the terms of the initial
members and which is deleted as obsolete. The
Commission to Revise the Annotated Code notes
that the current members are serving terms that
vary from those provided by law. The terms of
the current membership end as follows: (1) 7 in
1983; (2) 5 in 1984; (3) 6 in 1985; and (4) 7 in
1986.
In subsection (a) of this section, as to the
substitution of the phrase "with the advice of
the Secretary" for "upon the recommendations of
the Secretary", see the General Revisor's Note to
this article.
In subsection (b) of this section, the word
"children" is substituted for the imprecise term
"youth".
In subsection (c)(4) of this section, the former

subsection (c)(4) of this section applies, see
the General Revisor's Note to this article.
The first sentence of former Article 41, §
340(c), which allowed for successive terms, is
deleted as unnecessary. As a general rule, the
right to serve successive terms is not limited,
absent an express provision to the contrary.
Defined terms: "Secretary" § 1-101
"State Commission" § 13-401

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first
