CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 82-02
A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT AN AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF
THE CITY OF NEW CARROLLTON, PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MARYLAND
(SECTION 9 OF ARTICLE 17 OF THE CODE OF PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF
MARYLAND, EVERSTINE'S 1963 EDITION, AS AMENDED) AMENDING
SUBSECTION 6.b., ENTITLED "REGISTRATION," OF SECTION 6 of
said CHARTER, ENTITLED "REGISTRATION OF VOTERS," TO PROVIDE
FOR A DATE DEFINITE AFTER WHICH PERSONS MAY NOT REGISTER TO
VOTE BEFORE A GENERAL ELECTION OR A SPECIAL ELECTION AND TO
PROVIDE FOR A DATE DEFINITE AFTER A GENERAL ELECTION OR A
SPECIAL ELECTION WHEN PERSONS MAY REGISTER TO VOTE.
WHEREAS, there is registration of qualified persons not
registered to vote during normal business hours at City Hall
and at other times and days that are designated by the
Charter or may be designated by the Board of Elections or
Mayor; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of a date definite after
which persons may not register to vote before a general
election or a special election and the establishment of a
date definite after a general election or a special election
when persons may register to vote will assist the orderly
administration of voter registration;
