10-202. DIRECTOR.

(A)  POSITION AND APPOINTMENT.

THE HEAD OF THE ADMINISTRATION IS THE DIRECTOR OF
MENTAL HYGIENE, WHO SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE SECRETARY.

(B)  RESPONSIBILITY TO SECRETARY.

THE DIRECTOR SERVES AT THE PLEASURE OF THE SECRETARY.

(C)  QUALIFICATIONS.

THE DIRECTOR SHALL BE A PHYSICIAN WHO:

(1)   IS LICENSED TO PRACTICE MEDICINE IN THIS
STATE;

(2)   IS A DIPLOMATE OF THE AMERICAN BOARD OF
PSYCHIATRY AND NEUROLOGY;

(3)  HAS DEVOTED A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF
PROFESSIONAL TIME TO THE PRACTICE OF PSYCHIATRY; AND

(4)  HAS CLINICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE
IN MENTAL HYGIENE.

(D)   SALARY.

THE DIRECTOR IS ENTITLED TO THE SALARY PROVIDED IN THE
STATE BUDGET.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new   language derived

without substantive change from     former Article

59, § 3(h) and the first through   fourth sentences
of § 7.

The substance of former Article 59, § 3(h), which
defined "psychiatrist", is incorporated in this
section since that term appears only in this
section and in § 10-427 of this title, which
relates to the members of the technical review
committee of the Maryland Psychiatric Research
Center.
