9-1001. SHORT TITLE.
THIS TITLE MAY BE CITED AS THE "MARYLAND DRUG ABUSE
ACT" .
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language
substituted for the title of former Article 43B
that was enacted by Ch. 404, Acts of 1969, for
brevity.

GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE:
Former Article 43B, § lA(b) through (f), which
abolished the Drug Abuse Authority and the office of
director and transferred all related authority and property
to the Drug Abuse Administration and its director, is
deleted as obsolete, since the transfer and other events
contemplated by those subsections already have occurred.
See also Article 41, § 5 of the Code, which provides that
all property of an abolished governmental agency vests in
its successor agency or the agency to which its powers and
duties are transferred; Article 41, § 6 of the Code, which
continues the merit system status of employees of an
abolished agency; and Article 41, § 8 of the Code, which
continues, in effect, the rules and regulations of an
abolished agency.
Former Article 43B, § 17, which related to escapes by
individuals who are committed to the Drug Abuse
Administration, is transferred to Article 27, § 139 of the
Code.
Former Article 43B, § 24 is deleted as unnecessary in
light of the severability provision in Article 1, § 23 of
the Code.
Former Article 43B, § 25, which repealed any law
inconsistent with former Article 43B and, in particular, any
inconsistent provision of Article 27, § 306B of the Code, is
deleted as unnecessary and, as to Article 27, § 306B of the
Code, obsolete since that section was repealed by Ch. 403,
Acts of 1970.
