Ch. 828

(3)  THE CENTER SHALL OPERATE DEPARTMENT OF
HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE SHALL PROVIDE RESIDENTIAL AND DAY
TREATMENT PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS FROM PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY.

(I) THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL
HYGIENE SHALL OFFER TO CONTRACT THE EDUCATION PROGRAM TO THE
LOCAL EDUCATIONAL AGENCY. THE COSTS OF THE CONTRACT SHALL
BE DETERMINED BY USING THE SAME PER PUPIL COSTS AS IS USED
IN THE CONTRACT OF THESE SERVICES AT THE REGIONAL INSTITUTE
IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY.

(II) IF THE LOCAL EDUCATIONAL AGENCY
DECLINES TO CONTRACT, THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL
HYGIENE MAY OPERATE AN EDUCATION PROGRAM DIRECTLY OR
CONTRACT WITH ANOTHER QUALIFIED PROVIDER.

(4)  UNTIL A SEPARATE PROGRAM IS ESTABLISHED FOR
EACH COUNTY, CHILDREN FROM CHARLES, CALVERT, AND ST. MARY'S
COUNTIES MAY BE SERVED BY THE REGIONAL INSTITUTE IN PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY.

(5)  THE DEPARTMENTS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND

MENTAL HYGIENE; EDUCATION, AND HUMAN RESOURCES SHALL

ESTABLISH GUIDELINES IN COOPERATION WITH THE LOCAL BOARD OF
EDUCATION FOR THE OPERATION OF THE REGIONAL INSTITUTE FOR
CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

AN ACT concerning

The Maryland Legal Services Corporation

FOR the purpose of establishing the Maryland Legal Services
Corporation as a nonstock, nonprofit corporation, to
receive and distribute funds to grantees that provide
legal assistance in noncriminal proceedings or matters
to eligible clients; providing for a Board of Directors
with membership appointed by the Governor and specified
terms of office; providing for an executive director of
the Corporation; authorizing the Corporation to
establish maximum income levels for client eligibility
which in no event may exceed a certain level;
