(I) DRUG DEPENDENCE.

"DRUG DEPENDENCE" MEANS A PSYCHOLOGICAL NEED FOR A
DRUG.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as
Article 43B, § 2(h).

The term "drug dependence" is substituted for
"drug dependency", as the defined term, since the
word "dependence" was used in former Article 43B.

The only other changes are in style.

Defined term: "Drug" § 9-101

(J) STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL.

"STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL" MEANS THE STATE ADVISORY
COUNCIL ON DRUG ABUSE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as
Article 43B, § 2(c).

The term "State Advisory Council" is substituted
for "Council", as the defined term, to avoid
potential confusion with the county advisory
councils under § 9-309 of this title.

The only other changes are in style.

Defined term: "Drug abuse" § 9-101

REVISOR'S NOTE TO SECTION: Former Article 43B, § 2(i),
which defined "narcotic drugs", is deleted since
the term appears only once in this title, and the
definition is not needed in the section in which
the term appears.

Former Article 43B, § 2(j), which defined
"nonnarcotic drugs", is deleted as unnecessary
since that term is not used in this title.

9-102. FINDINGS; STATEMENT OF PURPOSE.

(A) FINDINGS.

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FINDS THAT:

(1) THE HUMAN SUFFERING AND SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC
LOSS THAT DRUG ABUSE CAUSES ARE MATTERS OF GRAVE CONCERN TO
THE PEOPLE OF THIS STATE;
