(C) The above fees for registration, examination and
certification shall be paid in advance to the secretary of
the Board.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That section(s)
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (as enacted by Chapters
165 and 558 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1974 and
Chapter ___ (H.B. 523) of the Acts of the General Assembly
of 1982) read(s) as follows:
Article 56 - Licenses
Cosmetologists

All examination fees shall be five dollars ($5.00), and
the registration fees for the issuance of licenses, with or
without examination, shall be as follows:
(a) Twenty dollars ($20.00) for beauty shop
owners, managers and teachers, annual renewal fee of twenty
dollars ($20.00).
(b) [Annual renewal fee of five] FIVE dollars ($5.00)
for operators, manicurists, cosmeticians, wig stylists, and
demonstrators, ANNUAL RENEWAL FEE OF FIVE DOLLARS ($5.00).
(c) Two dollars ($2.00) for students and apprentices,
annual renewal fee of two dollars ($2.00).
(d) One hundred dollars ($100.00) for schools of
beauty culture. Public and parochial schools, however, are
hereby declared, to be exempted from the payment of any
license fees, but are subject to the other provisions of
this subtitle. Annual renewal fees shall be the same as
registration except in the case of schools which shall be
fifty dollars ($50.00).
(e) Five dollars ($5.00) for cosmetologist-aide,
annual renewal fee of five dollars ($5.00).
(f) One dollar ($1.00) for temporary license.
(D) (G) (1) TO RENEW A CERTIFICATE, A MANICURIST:
(I) (1) NEED ONLY PAY THE RENEWAL FEE
UNDER SUBSECTION (B)(1) OF THIS SECTION; AND
(II)(2) IS NOT REQUIRED TO PAY THE BEAUTY
SHOP OWNER OR MANAGER FEE UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS
SECTION WHEN PRACTICING HIS OR HER PROFESSION IN A LICENSED
BARBERSHOP.
