and operation of the Administration. See also

inter alia, created that office.

Subsection (b) of this section formerly appeared
as the first clause of the sixth sentence of
Article 2C, § 301(a). No changes are made.

As to the general responsibilities of the
Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and
Addictions and specific authority over this
Administration, see § 2-103(c) of this article.
See also revisor's note to that subsection, as to
the current designation of this Assistant
Secretary as "Assistant Secretary for Mental
Health, Mental Retardation, Addictions, and
Developmental Disabilities".

8-204. MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES.

IN ADDITION TO THE DUTIES SET FORTH ELSEWHERE IN THIS
TITLE, THE ADMINISTRATION SHALL:

(1)  ENLIST PUBLIC AND VOLUNTARY HEALTH,
EDUCATION, WELFARE, AND REHABILITATION AGENCIES IN A
CONCERTED EFFORT TO PREVENT AND TREAT ALCOHOLISM;

(2)  DEVELOP AND ENCOURAGE STATEWIDE, REGIONAL,
AND LOCAL PLANS AND PROGRAMS IN THE FIELD OF ALCOHOLISM;

(3)  ENCOURAGE PROGRAMS IN BUSINESSES AND
INDUSTRIES TO REHABILITATE ALCOHOLICS;

(4)  CONSULT WITH AND GIVE TECHNICAL HELP TO EACH
POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE WITH RESPECT TO PROGRAMS
TO PREVENT AND TREAT ALCOHOLISM AND REHABILITATE ALCOHOLICS;

(5)  REVIEW, COMMENT ON, AND HELP WITH ANY
APPLICATION OF A PUBLIC AGENCY OR LOCAL GOVERNMENT FOR A
FEDERAL GRANT OR OTHER FEDERAL FUNDS FOR SERVICES FOR
ALCOHOLICS;

(6)  STIMULATE MORE EFFECTIVE USE OF RESOURCES
AND SERVICES THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO PREVENT AND TREAT
ALCOHOLISM AND REHABILITATE ALCOHOLICS;

(7)  ADVISE THE GOVERNOR ON THE MOST EFFECTIVE
MEANS TO COORDINATE THE EFFORTS OF PUBLIC AGENCIES IN THIS
STATE TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEMS OF ALCOHOLISM AND
ALCOHOLICS; AND
