AN ACT concerning

State Financing County Public Libraries

Library Program - State and County Assistance

FOR the purpose of altering the State's contribution to the
county state minimum library program increasing the
amount of certain expenses of county public library
systems shared among the State and those local
jurisdictions which participate in the county-state
minimum library program.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article - Education

23-403.

(b) (1) Each year, each county public library system
that participates in the minimum library program shall be
provided [$5] $6.50 $5.67 for each resident of the county,
to be used for operating and capital expenses. The State
shall share in this amount.

(2) Any county may provide an amount greater
than its share under the cooperative program, but the State
may not share in the excess.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.
