SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(as enacted by Chapter____(H.B.523) of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1982) read(s) as follows:
Article 56 - Licenses
482.
(e) [No person shall be permitted to take an
examination to receive a certificate as a senior teacher
unless said person is at least 18 years of age, is a high
school graduate or equivalent, is certified as an operator
and as a junior teacher, and has had one year of experience
as a junior teacher in a duly registered school of
cosmetology or completes the cosmetology teacher program
offered by the University of Maryland, or any similar
institution of higher learning approved by this Board.]
(1) TO QUALIFY FOR AN EXAMINATION FOR THE
PURPOSE OF RECEIVING A CERTIFICATE AS A SENIOR TEACHER, THE
APPLICANT SHALL:
(I) BE 18 YEARS OLD OR OLDER;
(II) HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR ITS
EQUIVALENT;
(III) HAVE A LICENSE AS A BEAUTY SHOP
OPERATOR; AND
(IV) 1. A. HAVE A LICENSE AS A JUNIOR
TEACHER OF BEAUTY CULTURE;
(V) HAVE 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A
LICENSED BEAUTY SHOP OPERATOR;
(VI) B. HAVE 6 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE AS A
JUNIOR TEACHER IN A BEAUTY SCHOOL OF THIS STATE THAT IS
APPROVED BY THE BOARD; AND
(VII) C. IN ADDITION TO THE HOURS REQUIRED
FOR A JUNIOR TEACHER LICENSE UNDER SUBSECTION (D) OF THIS
SECTION, HAVE 500 HOURS IN A BEAUTY SCHOOL LICENSED IN THIS
STATE WITH A TEACHERS CURRICULUM APPROVED BY THE BOARD.
