2. HAVE A 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A
LICENSED BEAUTY SHOP OPERATOR; AND
B. HAVE COMPLETED THE COSMETOLOGY
TEACHER COURSE OFFERED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND OR ANY
TEACHER PROGRAM APPROVED BY THIS BOARD;
TO QUALIFY FOR AN EXAMINATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF
RECEIVING A CERTIFICATE AS A SENIOR TEACHER:
(1) THE APPLICANT SHALL:
(I) BE 18 YEARS OLD OR OLDER;
(II) HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR ITS
EQUIVALENT; AND
(III) HAVE A LICENSE AS A BEAUTY SHOP
OPERATOR.
(2) THE APPLICANT SHALL ALSO MEET ONE OF THE
FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
(I) HAVE A LICENSE AS A JUNIOR TEACHER OF
BEAUTY CULTURE AND HAVE 6 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE AS A JUNIOR
TEACHER IN A BEAUTY SCHOOL OF THIS STATE THAT IS APPROVED BY
THE BOARD; OR
(II) HAVE 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A LICENSED
OPERATOR AND CERTIFICATION OF COMPLETING 2 COURSES IN
TEACHING ANY PROGRAM APPROVED BY THE BOARD; OR
(III) HAVE COMPLETED A DEGREE PROGRAM IN
COSMETOLOGY EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND OR A
SIMILAR INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING APPROVED BY THE
BOARD.
[(2) In addition TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS
SUBSECTION, a licensed senior manager who can show
certification of employment of at least a two (2) year
period prior to date of application, who is a high school
graduate or equivalent, is 18 years of age, and has
completed the cosmetology teacher courses offered by the
University of Maryland or any like teacher program approved
by this Board, shall be eligible for examination.]

(A) Any person licensed to practice hairdressing and
beauty culture in any other state, territory or District of
Columbia, under requirements substantially equal to or in
excess of those specified in this subtitle, shall upon the
payment of a fee of $25.00 be entitled to a certificate of
registration without examination. This section does not
