HARRY HUGHES, Governor                              2461

"bedding" is substituted for the references to
"articles of bedding".

(C)  DISINFECTOR.

"DISINFECTOR" MEANS A PERSON WHO DISINFECTS BEDDING,
BEDDING COMPONENT PARTS, OR FILLING MATERIAL.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as
Article 43, § 65(4).

The former parenthetical alternative word
"sterilizer" is deleted as inaccurate and
archaic. A "disinfector" generally does not
sterilize but merely disinfects and disinfests.

The only other changes are in style.

(D)  DISINFECT.

"DISINFECT" MEANS TO RID BEDDING, BEDDING COMPONENT
PARTS, OR FILLING MATERIAL OF:

(1)  LIVE MICROORGANISMS THAT MAY CAUSE DISEASE;
AND

(2)  LIVE BUGS AND PESTS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to clarify that "disinfect", as used in this
subtitle, includes the processes of: (1) removing
microorganisms that may cause infectious disease

in trade usage, to "disinfect" — and (2)
removing bugs and pests — in trade usage, to
"disinfest". The process of removing all
microorganisms — in trade usage, to "sterilize"

is not required by the Department since
sterility is only a transient condition.

(E)  FILLING MATERIAL.

"FILLING MATERIAL" MEANS ANY MATERIAL TEAT IS USED OR
INTENDED TO BE USED AS FILLING IN BEDDING OR UPHOLSTERED
FURNITURE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived
without substantive change from former Article
43, § 65(5).

The former enumeration of filling materials is
deleted as unnecessary.

The former phrase "concealed, or not concealed"
is deleted as superfluous.
