(B)  COMPENSATION AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES.
A MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL:

(1)  MAY NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION; BUT

(2)  IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES
UNDER THE STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS, AS PROVIDED IN
THE STATE BUDGET.

(C)  STAFF.

THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PROVIDE THE COUNCIL WITH NEEDED
SECRETARIAL AND SUPPORT SERVICES.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Article
43, § 813B(c) and the first clause of (d).

As to subsection (b) of this section. Standard
State Travel Regulations are adopted by the
Department of Personnel with the approval of the
Board of Public Works.

6-106. POWERS AND DUTIES OF COUNCIL.

(A)  POWERS.

AS TO TOXIC SUBSTANCES AND CARCINOGENIC SUBSTANCES, THE
COUNCIL MAY:

(1)  COLLECT AND EVALUATE ANY PERTINENT
INFORMATION, INCLUDING INFORMATION ON THE USE OF ASBESTOS IN
SCHOOLS AND PUBLIC BUILDINGS;

(2)  ADVISE THE SECRETARY ON SHORT-RANGE AND
LONG-RANGE COURSES OF ACTION;

(3)  RESPOND TO REQUESTS FROM THE SECRETARY FOR
ADVICE;

(4)  AID ANY APPROPRIATE STATE AGENCY, PRIVATE
INDIVIDUAL, OR PRIVATE ORGANIZATION IN DEVELOPING PROPOSALS
FOR GRANTS;

(5)  EVALUATE THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF PROPOSALS;
AND

(6)  DEVELOP AN EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
FOR DEALING WITH EMERGENCIES.

(B)  DUTY TO MAKE ANNUAL REPORT.

ON OR BEFORE THE SECOND WEDNESDAY IN JANUARY OF EACH
