REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived
without substantive change from former Article
43, § 217(c) and (d) -- as those subsections
collectively described a crab meat plant.

This definition avoids the need to repeat
"picking plant or pasteurization plant" — as the
former law did -- where the law is intended to
apply to both types of plant.

In item (2) of this subsection, "without complete
sterilization", which formerly modified
"heat-treated", is deleted as unnecessary.

As to the scope of this subtitle, see § 4-702 of
this subtitle.

(D)  LICENSE.

"LICENSE" MEANS A LICENSE ISSUED BY THE SECRETARY TO
OPERATE A CRAB MEAT PLANT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to avoid repetition of phrases such as "license
issued to operate a crab meat plant".

On occasion, the term "licensee" is used in this
subtitle to refer to the holder of a license.

(E)  PICKING PLANT.

"PICKING PLANT" MEANS A PLACE WHERE:

(1)  CRABS ARE STEAMED OR COOKED;

(2)  CRAB MEAT IS PICKED FROM CRABS; AND

(3)  CRAB MEAT IS PACKED.

which defined "person", is deleted in light of
the definition of "person" in § 1-101 of this

4-702. SCOPE OF SUBTITLE.

THIS SUBTITLE APPLIES TO THE FOLLOWING STAGES IN THE
COMMERCIAL PROCESSING OF CRABS AND CRAB MEAT:

(1) STEAMING OR COOKING.
