(K) VITAL RECORD.

"VITAL RECORD" MEANS A RECORD OF BIRTH, DEATH, FETAL
DEATH, MARRIAGE, DIVORCE, ADOPTION, OR ADJUDICATION OF
PATERNITY THAT IS REQUIRED BY LAW TO BE FILED WITH THE
SECRETARY.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as
Article 43, § 14(a)(1).

The term "filed" is substituted for "registered"
since filing is required by law. See subsections
(f) and (j) of this section, which define,
respectively, "file" and "registration".

4-202. REGISTRARS OF VITAL RECORDS.

(A)  STATE REGISTRAR.

THE SECRETARY SHALL APPOINT A STATE REGISTRAR OF VITAL
RECORDS, WHO SHALL BE IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE UNDER THE
STATE MERIT SYSTEM LAW.

(B)  LOCAL REGISTRARS.

THE HEALTH OFFICER FOR A COUNTY IS THE REGISTRAR OF
VITAL RECORDS FOR THE COUNTY.

and fourth sentences of former Article 43, § 15.
