FOR the purpose of altering the method of, cause for, and
length of time for extending building permits in St.
Mary's County, and altering the amount of time within
which a person must begin construction after the
issuance of a building permit in St. Mary's County.

Article 19 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1979 Edition, supplemented to December, 1980,
as amended)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:
Article 19 - St. Mary's County
203-7.
A. Construction must commence within [four (4) months]
1 YEAR from the date of issue of a building permit;
otherwise the permit shall become void and of no force and
effect. Reapplication and payment of fees by the applicant
shall be required prior to the issuance of a new permit and
prior to commencement of any construction. The permit must
be conspicuously posted at the construction site until all
work is completed.
B. [In unusual circumstances and upon recommendation
by the County Engineer, the County Commissioners of St.
Mary's County may extend the effective date of the building
permit as deemed necessary without the reapplication or
payment of fees.] THE ZONING ADMINISTRATOR, UPON GOOD CAUSE
SHOWN, MAY EXTEND A PERMIT WITHOUT ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR AN
ADDITIONAL PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED 6 MONTHS.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.
